“MUSIC FOR REVOLUTIONARIES” COMING TO KANSAS CITY – River Market Brewery Hosting Freedom Tour ‘08 Stop

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

June 19, 2008 – Kansas City — On Saturday night, June 28th, a five-week 28-city whirlwind musical tour to promote the message of freedom and political activism – Freedom Tour ’08 – will land in Kansas City. Acclaimed indie artist Marc Scibilia and his band continue their series of benefit concerts when their “Music for Revolutionaries” comes to The River Market Brewery, with popular local act Mr. History opening at 8 PM. The concert will be highlighted by 96.5 The Buzz as part of its Rock the Vote campaign.

Although only 22, singer-songwriter Marc Scibilia has already made four albums including “Fixity,” produced in Nashville last year. He’s collaborated with Michael Tait of the multiple Grammy-winning group DC Talk, and toured internationally playing piano and keyboards for Sonicflood.

“He’s an incredible musician – progressive piano rock with the piano chops of Billy Joel and vocals influenced by Bob Dylan. Expect him to even play the harmonica and piano at the same time,” said Larry Holland, communications director for The Liberty Restoration Project, which the concert is benefitting. “He and his band are donating their talents so that local groups like ours can better educate citizens on current issues in American politics. Preview his music on MySpace and YouTube and I think you’ll be pretty excited to see this rare talent right here in Kansas City.”

While Scibilia already has an extensive musical history, the recent Presidential candidacy of Dr. Ron Paul inspired him to write his first political song, “Hope Anthem,” and is his band’s inspiration for touring America. By the time they hit Kansas City, they will have already toured 13 cities in the previous 17 days, including Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas. They will eventually play at the Freedom March in Washington D.C. on July 12th. Every stop is a benefit concert. They’re chronicling their travels online with video updates from their tour.

The Liberty Restoration Project is a newly-formed organization in Kansas City, committed to helping freedom-loving candidates. In between acts, speakers such as Missouri Representative Jim Guest will highlight important political issues. The concert is free, but donations are desired.

The River Market Brewery is at the corner of 5th and Walnut in the River Market district of Kansas City, and has a capacity of about 200.
