New Ways to Stay Updated with The Liberty Restoration Project

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

We’ve just added the ability to get daily updates when the website changes (a blog post is added, for instance). It is an easy process, and here’s how you do it:

  1. In the right column, you’ll see “subscribe to updates”. Click on that.
  2. A new page will come up, which gives you a few options. If you already use RSS newsreaders, click on the appropriate one. If you instead would just like the updates to come to you in your e-mail, then click on “Get the Liberty Restoration Project delivered by email.”
  3. Follow the directions to enter your e-mail address and authenticate your request.

You’ll now get changes every day that there are changes.

Of course, the new wave is to use newsfeeds, and Liberty Restoration Project can be a part of yours. Here is an overview of the power of feeds – http://www.google.com/support/feedburner/bin/answer.py?answer=79408

ON THE WAY – LISTSERVE E-MAILS

Meetup.com served a VITAL function in igniting the grassroots freedom movement. While we already have transitioned to our website for part of what it did – the calendar, for instance – we are also going to have another part of what makes Meetup great – the listserve e-mails. Just like Meetup, it will be a way for you to have discussions and share information with others who have signed up. You send an e-mail to the group, and all the members get it. Our original intent with the Liberty Restoration Project was to have a more permanent and separate presence outside Meetup, and this will be in keeping with that and is necessary regardless because we will eventually be closing our particular Meetup, which has a Ron Paul candidacy theme. We’ll let you know when the listserve capability has been added.

COMMUNITY Calendar

Don’t forget to check our calendar at our site AND if you are or know someone who has an activist group in the KC area that overlaps in some way with our freedom and liberty theme, PLEASE let us know – we want to get your events up on our community calendar! We will give the administrator for such a group access to post their events.

Thanks,

The Liberty Restoration Project

When in the Course of Human Events…

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

The Liberty Restoration Project is a group of freedom activists in the Kansas City area dedicated to carrying the torch of the Ron Paul Revolution through the Republican National Convention and beyond. The American people need to know that this movement is steadfast, because “the price of freedom is eternal vigilance,” as Thomas Jefferson put it. Freedom is not a foregone conclusion to be casually taken for granted, but a cause to be pursued and defended at every turn. The United States, while one of the last vestiges of freedom, has been turning away from its great traditions of liberty, as guaranteed individual rights have seemingly become optional with the advent of legislation such as the Patriot Act and the Homegrown Terrorism Act. If taken to their extremes, these acts criminalize the very patriotic activity of speaking out against the government.

The Liberty Restoration Project is dedicated to defending the last remnants of the liberty that we now enjoy, and reclaiming some of the freedoms that we as individuals have ceded to our servant government. There is no act which is more patriotic than that of questioning, indeed speaking out against, the abuse of government authority. It is true that the United States is in far better condition, in terms of freedom, than territories occupied by totalitarian regimes, such as Cuba or Iran. But without eternal vigilance, and the courage of a few good men and women who will eternally fight for the freedoms of others, our America will be lost forever.

So how do we do this? Well, the most basic way is through educating people in our community. We will be holding seminars on specific topics related to individual rights, the Constitution, the Real I.D. Act, the Homegrown Terrorism Act, the Federal Income Tax Scam, as well as many other important issues, current and historical. Then, we will teach people how to become involved, through petitioning the government at the local, state and federal level. We will show people how, and hopefully encite in them the courage, to stand up for their God-given rights.

Through this Presidential Primary and Caucus season, as well as through my participation in the Liberty Restoration Project, I’ve received an education that is worth a whole lot more than the pseudo-educational sham that I paid arm, leg, and firstborn for in the American university system. Through the Liberty Restoration Project, we will continue to educate Americans, from Washington State to Florida and from Maine to California, hopefully enticing a significant portion of them to join in the next phase of the Freedom Revolution.

A message from the Executive Director

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

An amazing thing is happening in our country. Despite the sense of lost freedom, an incredible energy buzzes beneath the surface, and lately, has been breaking out into the light. Passionate and talented citizens across the country are dedicating themselves to a renewed message of liberty and integrity. Here in Kansas City we began as one of many loosely-affiliated meetup groups across the nation. Each of us inspired by the virtues and values of our Founding Fathers helped spread this message in a modern way, supporting contemporary candidates who have carried forth these traditions with integrity. The commitment to that message has resulted in incredible success here in the Kansas City area: we elected a slate of Ron Paul delegates at the Republican county caucus; we negotiated to remove challenges to over 160 delegates in our area; and we elected three delegates to represent us at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul. We achieved these successes despite the lack a formal organization. Accordingly, we decided to form the Liberty Restoration Project to increase our efficiency and ensure our efforts were applied beyond this Presidential election in both scope and time.

The Liberty Restoration Project (LRP) will widely promote our message of smaller government and commitment to the Constitution — traditional convservative values. LRP will have two arms of operation – one will be a 527 organization which will focus on supporting liberty-minded candidates and opposing non-liberty minded candidates in the 2008 election and beyond. We hope to work closely with similarly groups in this regard, both local and national. The second arm will be either a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) educational organization dedicated to enlightening the public and motivating them to action. The strategic planning process for this arm will begin in June of 2008 and will finalize with the submission of our articles of incorporation and other documents in January of 2009. We hope to design a lecture series, publish a book series, provide resources on our website, and initiate many other projects and programs to help people understand the civic processes in our country and encourage their involvement.

We are determined to help shape the direction of our country and know we can find success by focusing our energy through the Liberty Restoration Project. I hope you are as excited as I am to be a part of this movement and I look forward to hearing your ideas and input. We need your energy and brain power to ensure we find success. I strongly urge you to contact me if you are interested in getting involved and I warmly welcome your comments in any event.
